About The Edinburgh Group

The Edinburgh Group is a coalition of 15 accountancy bodies from across the world, representing over 900,000 professional accountants in countries from Africa, North America, Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America. Formed in 2000, the mission of the Edinburgh Group is to ensure that the development of the international accountancy profession meets the needs of its diverse stakeholders, reflecting progress in the global economy and society at large.

  • 01 EG Membership is open to any IFAC Member Body or a Regional or National Accountancy organisation which shares the vision and objectives of the Group.
  • 02 Any organisation wishing to apply to become a Member shall apply in writing or in such other form as may be prescribed by the Group from time to time.
  • 03 Every application for membership shall be addressed to the Secretary.
  • 04 Application shall be considered by the Group at its next meeting.
  • 05 The number of Members is not subject to any upper limit.
  • 06 Forthwith on admission to membership of the Group, each Member shall appoint a Representative who shall represent the Member's interests in all of the Group's operations, including attending meetings and voting on the Member's behalf.
  • 07 Each Member shall have the power to change its Representative from time to time.
